Using simple Pythagorean Theorm, we can find this. In this case, 4 meters is the hypotenuse and 3.5 meters is one of the legs. We know a^2 + b^2 = c^2, and we can reverse than for our need. c^2 - b^2 = a^2 turns into, 16 - 12.25 = a^2, simplifying, 3.75 = a^2. And so a is, rounded to the nearest hundredth, 1.94 meters.
