The first aircraft has 100 more seats than the second aircraft. The third aircraft has 27 fewer seats than the second aircraft. If their total number of seats is 373, find the number of seats for each aircraft.

Work:

x = 100 + y

y = z - 27

x = 100 + z - 27

x = 73 + z

x = 100 + y = 73 + z

373 = 3x - 100 - 73

3x = 200

x=200/3 (which is wrong?)

aircraft 1: x + 100

aircraft 2: x

aircraft 3: x - 27

              3x + 73 = 373    |-73

                      3x = 300    | :3

                        x = 100

                        x + 100 = 200

                        x - 27 = 73
