G = GE microwaves sold   $ amount =  95 x G

(18-G) = Kenmore uwaves sold  $ amount = 175(18-G)        the two dollar amounts equal 2270

95G + (175)(18-G) = 2270

95G + 3150 - 175G = 2270

-80 G        = -880

G= 11   Number of GE uwaves sold       18-G = 18-11 = 7 Kenmore uwaves sold

G = # of GE brand microwave

K = # of Kenmore brand microwave

System of equations:

95G + 175K = 2270

G + K = 18

Multiply:

95G + 175K = 2270

-95G - 95K = - 1710

Add:

80K = 560

Solve:

K = 7

G + 7 = 18

G = 11

So 11 GE brand were sold and 7 Kenmore brand were sold.
