f (2) on the x axis, go to x = 2........move down until you intersect the graph........read the y value at this point = -3
So f (2) = -3
Similarly
f (-4) on the x axis, go to x =- 4........move up until you intersect the graph........read the y value at this point = 4
So f (-4) = 4
f(x) = -1 ....what we are really asking is, "What is the x value on the graph when y = -1 ?? "
Go down on the y axis until y = - 1........notice that the graph intersects this point.....so....the x value at this point = 0
So at f(x) = -1, x = 0
