Find the discriminant of the quadratic 5x^2 - 2x + 8 - 2x^2 + 6x + 2.

First, let's combine all like terms and put this in the form of a quadratic equation. We have

\(3x^{2}+4x+10\)

 

Now, the descriminant is in the form of \(b^2-4ac\) for qudratics in the form \(ax^2+bx+c\)

 

Thus, we have

 \(4^2-4(3)(10)\\ = 16 - 120\\ -104\)

 

So the answer is -104.
