12x^2 - 11x + 2 factors as (6x - 1)(7x - 3).

First, let's find factors of 12

12=1*12

12=2*6

12=3*4

now let's do trials (I.e. you try these values until you get the answer as they are the only factors of 12)

\((4x-)(3x-)\)

- what??

2*1 as the product of them must be equal to +2 and sum to -11

\((4x-2)(3x-1)\) Notice this doesn't work why? because if you expand it it is not the same. Now let's try to switch 2 and 1

\((4x-1)(3x-2)\) This works!
