When a fraction of 12 is taken away from 17, what remains exceeds one-third of seventeen by six.
Please don't solve the equation just give me the sentence becuase i've been stuck on it for a while.
OK....this IS a little tough
A "fraction of 12" can be represented as (1/x)*12
Taking this away from 17 is 17 - (1/x)*12
So we have
[ 17 - (1/x)*12 ] - (1/3)*17 = 6
