for these questions you can do proportions

a. 16/48 = x/100 then you have to cross multiply

48x = 1600

x = 33.3 repeating or 33 1/3

x = 33.3% or 33 1/3%

he saves 33.3% or 33 1/3% of his pay

(33/3% or 33 1/3% is on what you or your teacher prefers)

b. x/48 = 15/100 then you have to cross multiply

100x = 720

x = 7.2

he saves $7.20

a. 16 / 48 = 1 / 3  = about 33%

b. 15% x 48 = $7.20     ...also....."Molly" appears to have turned into a "he"....!!!
