The measure of one angle is thirteen less than five times the measure of another angle. The sum of the measures of the two angles is 140°.   What are the two angles?

x = 5y - 13 and x + y = 140.

Using substitution, 5y - 13 + y = 140 ====> 6y = 153, so y = 25.5, and x = 114.5
