The circumference c of a mother elephant's circular footprint is 4 times the circumference of a baby elephant's circular footprint. What is the ratio of the height of the mother to the height of the baby?
A) 1 to 4
B) 1 to 3
C) 4 to 1
D) 4 to 3
Right answer is C.
I chose the answer as A because 1 of the mother is equal to 4 baby heights. So therefore the ratio should be 1-4 and not 4-1? Why is it like that?
There was also outside info before the question saying that
Height = 3circumference
H = 3c
The mother is obviously taller.....so the ratio of mother to baby should be more like 4 to 1
if mother is 4 baby heights then ration of mother to baby is 4 baby heights to 1 baby height or 4 to 1
But isnt that 4 mother heights = 1 baby heights.
Should it not be 1 mother height = 4 baby heights so that the 4-1 is reversed making it 1-4 as the ratio?
1 mother height is = baby heights so 1 to 4?
And yes i understand its 4 baby heights to 1 baby height but should it not be mother to baby height?
(i accidentall answered the question and didnt reply to u)

1 mother = 4 baby heights
so ratio of mother to baby is 4 baby heights to 1 baby height = 4 to 1 mother is 4 times taller than baby
Baby is 1/4 of mom
