A train traveling at 45 mph enters a tunnel that is 1 mile long. The length of the train is 1/8 of a mile. How many minutes after the front of the train enters the tunnel does the back of the train exit the tunnel? Express your answer as a decimal to the nearest tenth.
The back of the train (and therefore the whole train) has to travel 1+1/8 miles = 1.125 miles
So
Speed = 45m/h
Distance=1.125miles
find time.
The formula is
speed = distance / time
So you should be able to work it out from there.
That is right but what are the units? Do you have to do a conversion?
How many minutes after the front of the train enters the tunnel does the back of the train exit the tunnel?
