Admission to a car show costs $5 for each ticket. After selling only 20 tickets, they decided to lower the price to $3 each. If they raise $217, how many tickets did they sell in all? By:Ariana Akizian

$5 X 20 =$100 money they raised from selling 20 tickets @ $5 per ticket.

$217 - $100=$117 money raised after they dropped the price to $3 per ticket

$117 / 3=39 tickets they sold @ $3 per tickets

20 + 39 =59 total tickets sold.

First multiply 20 by 5:

100

Then subtract 100 from 217.

117.

Then, divide 117 by 3.

39.

Add 20 and 39 to get:

59 tickets.

They sold 59 tickets,
