Admission to a car show costs \$5 for each ticket. After selling only 20 tickets, they decided to lower the price to \$3 each. If they raise \$217, how many tickets did they sell in all? By:Ariana Akizian

\$5 X 20 =\$100 money they raised from selling 20 tickets @ \$5 per ticket.

\$217 - \$100=\$117 money raised after they dropped the price to \$3 per ticket

\$117 / 3=39 tickets they sold @ \$3 per tickets

20 + 39 =59 total tickets sold.

First multiply 20 by 5:

100

Then subtract 100 from 217.

117.

Then, divide 117 by 3.

39.

Add 20 and 39 to get:

59 tickets.

They sold 59 tickets,
