1) A sequence with a_1 = 1 is defined by the recurrence relation a_{n+1} = 2^na_n for all natural numbers n. If a_{23} = 2^p, then what is p?

2) What is the value of y$ in the arithmetic sequence y + 6, 12, y?

Thanks!cheeky

1)

1, 2, 8, 64, 1024.......etc.

The "closed form" of your sequence, if I understood it, is: a_n = 2^(1/2 (n - 1) n)

So, a(23) = 2^p = 2^253
