A radial saw has a blade with a 9-in. radius. Suppose that the blade spins at 800 rpm.

(a) Find the angular speed of the blade in rad/min.

rad/min.

There are 2 pi radians in each rotation

2 pi * 800 =           radians/min

Circumference of blade is pi d

  pi * 18     = pi * 2r   inches

800 rpm

  pi * 2r * 800     inches per min

60 seconds each minute

 (pi * 2r * 800) / 60

12 inches per foot

  (pi*2r*800) / (60*12) =                       ft / s
