If you want to round 54.7 off to a whole number it will be 55.
the 7 is used for the rounding. Any number 5 or bigger than 5 will force the next number up.
for example I am going to round each of these off to the nearest whole number.
63.9=64
1.08=1 (because the next digit is 0)
12.5098=13
56.7 = 57
19.499 = 19
999.78 = 1000
14.5 = 15
