Beginning with the equation Ax + By = C, Brenda subtracted Ax from both sides to get

By = -Ax + C,

then she divided both sides by B to get

y = -A/Bx + C/B

.

What is ONE reason she might have done this?

A)to find the x-intercept

B)to find the y-intercept

C)to write the equation in standard form

D)to write the equation in point-slope form

Ax + By  = C  is standard form

y = -A/Bx + C/B

This form would be helpful to find the y intercept  [ and the slope ]

"B" is correct

The standard form of a line   is   y= mx + b

    so she was trying to get the equation to the standard form
