You can imagine the places Bertie can be as a circle with a radius of 1.3cm around crumb A and the places Adam can be as a circle with a radius of 3.5cm around crumb B, since they have to keep those distances from the crumbs.

 

To solve the task on paper you simply need to draw a circle with radius 1.3cm and one with radius 3.5cm that intersect, and mark the points where the circles go through eachother.

 

You may get bonus points if you comment on that it is possible for there to be only one solution if crumb A and B are exactly 4.8cm away from eachother, since then the circles only hit eachother at one point.
