Suppose the ratio of Lev's age to Mina's age is 1 : 2 and the ratio of Mina's age to Naomi's age is 3 : 4. If the sum of all three ages is between 30 and 50, then how old is Mina?
Let Naomi's age = x
Then Mina's age is (3/4)x
And Lev's age = (3/8)x
So the sum of the ages = x + (3/4)x + (3/8) x = (17/8)x
Then Naomi's age must be divisible by 8
And it must be greater than 8 because 8 +(3/4)(8) + (3/8)(8) = 8 + 6 + 3 = only 17
So.....
Let Naomi's age = 16
Then Mna's age = (3/4)(16) = 12
And Lev's age = (3/8)(16) = 6
So 16 + 12 + 6 = 34
So....Mina is 12
As we found in one of your previous postings L:M:N is 3:6:8
3+6+8 =17 Not between 30 and 50 so let's double them all (this will keep the same ratios
L:M:N 6:12:16 6+12+16 = 34 satisfies the requirements
L=6
M=12
N=16
