... -5 ^ 2 = 25, not -25 !!!!
This calculator gets it wrong even if I do 5 * -1 = -5 ^ 2
Sorry, but
-5^2 = -1(5)^2 = -1*25 = -25
The exponent only applies to the 5, not to the "understood" -1 out front.
Note however.......
(-5)^2 = (-1*5)^2 = (-1)^2*(5)^2 = 1 * 25 = 25
The exponent applies to both the 5 and the "understood" -1 in front.
