I don't understand the whole factoring and stuff, it's confusing for me. The question is:

Solve the Equation by Factoring: 3x2 = 9x

Please help me understand how factoring works (I've already watched tutorials but it still doesn't make any sense). Thank you

Here is a step by step solution of your equation. Follow it slowly and carefully line by line:

Solve for x:
3 x^2 = 9 x

Subtract 9 x from both sides:
3 x^2-9 x = 0

Factor x and constant terms from the left hand side:
3 x (x-3) = 0

Divide both sides by 3:
x (x-3) = 0

Split into two equations:
x-3 = 0 or x = 0

Add 3 to both sides:
Answer: |  x = 3              or                 x = 0
