a.How far is Corey from the tree in the initial position?

 

b.How far is Corey from the tree in the new position?

 

c.How many feet did Corey have to move back to get to the new position?

a.   tan 64  =   75 / D       rearrange as

 

D = 75 / tan 64  ≈ 36.58  ft

 

 

b . We  have  that

 

tan 42   =  75 / ( D + 42)

 

tan 42  =  75  /( 36.58 + D)     rearrange as

 

36.58  +  D =   75  /tan 42

 

D =  75 / tan 42   -  36.58   ≈  46.72 ft

 

 

c. Should be easy    46.72 - 36.58   = ????
