My working out is abit long so please bare with me as i have tried this multiple times and still failed:

i was told to always find the momentum and coefficient of restitution for these questions then do simultaneous equations

momentum: \(mua+mub = mva + mvb\)

\(-2(0.3) + 3(0.2) = (0.3)va + (0.2)va\)

\(0.3va + 0.2vb = 0.5\)

coefficient of restitution:

\(0.8=\frac{vb-va}{3-2}\)

\(-va + vb = 0.8\)

simultaneous:

0.5vb = 0.74

vb = 1.48 va = 0.68

However the markscheme says my answer should be VA=-0.6 VB=3.4

NVM i used 2 for ub in my e equation instead of -2 in all 4 of my attempts..
