You get 10% of the first $5,000.00  --->   0.10 x 5000  =  $500.00

Since the total sold is $22,000.00, there is still $17,000.00 remaining,  for which commisssion is paid at the rate of 15%  --->   0.15 x 17000  =  $2550.00

Total commission:  $500.00 + $2550.00  =          <--- the answer.
