No matter how hard I try, I can't see where the big dipper is (even under a clear sky with thousands of stars). How do I recognize it? All the stars look the same to me.

Buy yourself the "Sky and Telescope" magazine, or subscribe to it. They will teach how to recognize all constellations.

The most important thing is that you know what it looks like.

Here are some pictures. You certainly will not be able to see it if you do not know what you are supposed to be lookng for. :)

Thanks guest and Melody. I'll try to find the big dipper the next time I go under a clear sky. I wonder when that will be...
