First....graph the given info (see diagram below)

then you will see a triangle   with 'base' of  20    and 'height'     of  4  

    can you compute the area of a triangle   ( 1/2 b h ) ?

We  have  a triangle  with  a base of  (16  - - 4)   =20 units     and a  height of  4  units

 

The area  is     (1/2) ( 20) ( 4)   =     40  units^2
