I was wondering, if by making up a number (like say F) we could set x/0=xF, wouldnt that result in a solution the the problem of dividing by zero?

So you're saying write this equation and try to figure out what f is?

\(\frac{x}{0}=xf\)

You can rewrite that like:

\(x\frac{1}{0}=xf\)

So f is just going to be 1/0, and x times that is also undefined.

No im creating a number, (like how i = sqrt(-1)). this number is the answer to the problem (1/0), and anything else is x*1/0=xf. so 5/0 would equal 5f.

Yes what i asking is that would setting a variable to = 1/0 would make mathmatical sense.

If you dont know they did this for the square roots of negative numbers.
