Energy Flow & Economics

Which is more energy efficient (which can earn you more dollars

per energy unit), farming an acre of corn or ranching an acre of

cattle? Consider that you have 100,000 EU (energy units) available

for your acre.

Use this data to help you make your decision:

An average of 162 bushels of corn can be sewn at a cost of approximately

$3.28/bushel on 1 acre of irrigated land. Determine the market price

per bushel on 9/15/15 using the website

An average of 1200lbs of cattle can be raised at an average cost of

$0.70/lb on 60 acres of land with ample water.  Determine the market

price per pound on 9/15/15 using the website

What variables may contribute to the "averages" mentioned above - how

would these variables effect the efficiency (personal economic impact) of

your land use?

You must show all calculations in your notebook to determine

which crop gives you the best $/EU.

Heres the website for it too: http://www.quotecorn.com/
