-Calypso keeps Odysseus on her island for many years because she's in love with him, she only lets him go when hermes orders her to.

-The sirens lure fisherman to their death with their beauty and soothing voices. Odysseus is only allowed to hear them by beeing tied to a mast. His fellow crewman have their ears filled with wax.

-The suitors try to get Penelope to marry them in order to gain Odysseus' kingdom, this also endangers the life of Telemachus, the son of Odysseus, as he is the sole heir to the throne.
