SOCIAL ETIQUETTE

If you want to chat you need to choose ONE thread and then add your comments on it as new answers.

Do not start a new post each time.  Posts must remain primarly for mathematics questions!

If you fill up all the initial question posts with your chatter they will be deleted.

Also, no religious posts are acceptable.

This is and must always be primarily a mathematics help forum.

It is getting so that it is hard to find the questions because of all the social posts.

Each day you can have one or two social threads.

Maybe a riddle thread and another for more general chat.

Do not put a new comment on a new post. If you want to post a riddle, find the riddle thread and post it there.

Maybe all you social posters can chat amoung yourselves and work out how this is best done.

Every time we get a new 'batch' of kids on the forum we go through this.

At it is always very pleasing how quickly they get themselves organised in a fun and acceptable way.

Also, I think we have a slightly sleazy guest who appears sometimes.  IGNORE him.

People who are ignored get bored and go away.  Do not respond to distastful posts AT ALL.

You can also message me or CPhill or Alan if you want and we can remove the post.  I encourage you to do this :)

So

HAVE FUN AND BE THOUGHTFUL OF OTHER FORUM USERS

It just occured to me that some of you might not know where to look for a social post.

In the row just above the questions there are a whole lot of tabs.  Normally it is on the "question" tab.

BUT there is an "answers" tab  there too.

Open the "answers" page and it will probably be obvious where other people are chatting.

Just click into one of  the chat answers and you will find the whole chat thread   :)

You can post some social things, you just have to learn to do it in an acceptable way.

You all need to be chatting on the same thread.

We have done this before with other groups of young people and it works well.  Sometimes the threads can be a hundred of posts long.  :)

Okay! and i wanted to say thank you for helping me with a lot of stuff! A lot of people don't have patience with me. I'm not your average student.. I don't get things on one try. I have to do it MULTIPLE times.. So, thank you for being patient with me, I hope that you'll still be helping me in the future. Even when i ask a question today :D. I dont meant to ask questions that don't relate to math, but I need assistance, and you are one of the few people that help me so much!

It is ok Hayley. You are well like here :)

When you go to a new place it always takes a while to work out what is the best way to do things there. :)

Two of the reasons that you are so well liked is that you are always very polite and bubbly :)

See how we are both chatting on this thread.  Other people can join in if they want. See this has become a chat thread and since it was never a proper maths question that is really good.

I have a question Your Magesty.

**Also, no religious posts are acceptable.**

Does this pertain only to proselytizing or to any religious reference?

Christmas is near and I usually wish a few worthy souls a “Merry Fucking Christmas,” or a “Happy Fucking Hanukkah, “or Happy whatever floats their fucking boat, along with a “Happy Fucking New Year.”

I just wanted to know if that was acceptable.
