# Explain to Andre how he can find the lengths of the legs in the triangle in the image. Help!

This is a new concept for me, but I need help to understand it. If anyone can explain and solve this problem then I would appreciate it. Thank You!

Long leg   is   53-8      short leg   is    22-12

Note  that  we  have  the points   (8,12)    and (53,22)

One leg  = ( 53 - 8)  =   45

The other  =  (22 - 12)  =  10

Proof

By the Pythagorean Theorem......PQ =  sqrt  [ 45^2 + 10^2 ]

And using the distance formula PQ   =sqrt [ (53 - 8)^2  + ( 22 - 12)^]  =  sqrt [ 45^2  + 10^2]

And  the  distance  PQ  is  =   sqrt   [ 2125]  ≈  46.1  units
