a) Let f(x) = |x| and g(x) = x^2. Find all values of x for which f(x) = g(x). b) Let f(x) = |x| and g(x) = x^2. Find all values of x for which f(x) > g(x). Write your answer in interval notation.
a) The solutions are x = -1 and x = 1.
b) The solution is -1 < x < 1, or in interval notation, (-1,1).
That's what I got for a) too, but it's shown as wrong
The same goes for b).
For part (a), there is a third value for x, x = 0.
For part (b), f(x) = g(x) when x= 0 and so cannot be included in the interval.
