our formula is:

y=mx+b

y=-2x+16

m=-2    (slope)

b=16    (y-intercept)

Find the equation of the line that passes through the point (4, 4) and is perpendicular

to the line

y = -2x + 16

so the formula of perpendicular line is -1/m your slope is -2 perpendicular line s slope will be:

(-1)/(-2)=1/2

and we have m=1/2  and (4, 4) let s put it into y=mx+b:

4=(1/2)*4+b

b=2

So our equation is:

\(y=\frac{1}{2}x+2\)
