why cant i divide fractions

You can divide fractions. However, in general, you can just flip the second fraction (take the reciprocal) and then multiply the 2 fractions. To include one specific thing as a fraction on this calculator, you can place parenthesis around the fraction, and separate the numerator or denominator with a slash (x/y) --> $$\frac{x}{y}$$ . If you're talking about on this calculator, you can type (a/b)/(c/d) to do this: $$\frac{a}{b}\div\frac{c}{d}$$ .
