What is the greatest number of cubes with a side of 1.5cm that can fit in the box with dimensions 16cm * 15cm * 12cm?

16 ÷ 1.5 = \(10 \frac{2}{3}\)

15 ÷ 1.5 = 10

12 ÷ 1.5 = 8

 

Let's say the bottom side is 16 x 15. (it won't matter)

since 10 cubes can fit in 16 and 15, there will be 10 x 10 = 100 cubes. 


Then 12 is the height and 8 cubes can fit. 

This means 100 x 8 = 800 cubes. 

 

(so it's just 10 x 10 x 8)
