A tile company produces a tile in the shape of a regular polygon. If each interior angle has a measure that is three times an exterior angle measure, identify the regular polygon. If one side of a tile has a length of 2.3 cm, find the perimeter of a tile.
This is what Hayley is talking about.
And, I am with CPhill - that was a top answer Hayley.
The program we use to draw pictures like this is called GeoGebra. It is a download.
It is commonly used by schools so you can probably get permission to download it.
Anyone who has an interest in drawing maths 'pics' should download it (for free) and have a play :)
AND that is the first time I have tried Alan's method of uplading a tiny pic image.
It was a bit slower but I guess I will get faster at it. :D
Thanks Alan
let exterior = x
therefore interior = 3x
3x + x = 180
4x=180
x = 45 degrees
exterior angle * # of sides = 360
# of sides = 360/45
# of sides = 8 hence an octagon
perimeter = 8 * length of side
= 8*2.3
= 18.4cm
