Personal opinion: I think you will have a much better chance of having your questions answered if they are accompanied by a picture, at least in problems such as this one. If you don't have a diagram for it, you should make some effort in attempting to draw the diagram as much as you understand the problem. No offence and good luck to you.
+1450 There was no accompanying diagram when I was presented with the problem. I believe part of the problem might be to make one.
