Good Morning, Sunshines! :)
Ready to start off my day with some wonderful math!
What Polynomial must be added to X^2-2x+6 so that the sum is 3x^2+7x?
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks, everyone!
What Polynomial must be added to X^2-2x+6 so that the sum is 3x^2+7x?
\(\begin{array}{rcrcrcr} && x^2 &-& 2x &+& 6 \\ &\color{red}+& \color{red} 2x^2 &\color{red}+& \color{red}9x &\color{red}-& \color{red}6 \\ \hline &=& \color{blue}3x^2 &\color{blue}+& \color{blue}7x &\color{blue}+& \color{blue}0 \\ \end{array}\)
This might be a silly question, but how did you know that that would be the answer?
Good morning Hayley :)
I suppose it is morning here too since it is 12:25am :))
What Polynomial must be added to X^2-2x+6 so that the sum is 3x^2+7x?
well
\(x^2 + 2x^2 = 3x^2\\ -2x+ 9x=7x\\ 6+ -6 = 0\\ so\\ x^2-2x+6\quad +\quad 2x^2+9x-6 = 3x^2+7x\)
So the polynomial that you seek is
\(2x^2+9x-6\)
