I can't solve this:

You have quarters and dimes that total $2.80. Your friend says it is possible that the number of quarters is 8 more than the number of dimes. Is your friend correct?

The way the problem is worded, the number of quarters has to be exactly 8 more than the number of dimes.

To have 8 more quarters than dimes, you have to have at least 9 quarters, so let's start with that many.

No. Quarters   No. Dimes   Total of $

                                 9                 1                2.35

                               10                 2                2.70

                               11                 3                3.05

So I say it is NOT POSSIBLE.  What say you?
