A pipe is to be cut up such that the second piece is 3 inches shorter than the first and the third piece isfour inches more than the first. How long is cach piece if the pipe is 84 inches long?

x-3 = next piece
x +4 = last piece summed they equal 84 inches
x + x-3 + x+4 = 84
3x + 1 = 84
3x = 83
x = 83/3 inches now you should be able to find the other two lengths....
