Calculate them both but the answer always ends up wrong first I did x + 1 which gave me x +1 and 4x - 56 which gave me 4 (x - 14).

What do you mean by 'calculate both'?

These are cointerior angles on parallel lines so they are supplementary (add to 180 degrees) Does that help?

What do you need to do?  Do you know now?

I am fairly certain that "calculate them both" means to find the measure of both unknown angles in the given diagram.

Yes it does but you need to findthe value of x first.

I do not think the asker understood this.

She seemed to think they could be found independently of one another.
