You have determined that you can install a round swimming pool that has an area that is less than 400 square feet. Are you able to install a swimming pool that has a diameter of 20 feet? Explain.

The radius of the circular pool is 10 feet. The approximate area of the pool (rounded to two decimal places) _______ is square feet. Since the area is less than 400, you are able to install a swimming pool with a diameter of 20 feet.

square feet of pool  =

pi *  (diameter / 2)^2  =

pi * ( 20 / 2)^2  =

pi * 10^2  =

100 pi  ft^2  ≈   314.16  ft^2

We use pi*r^2, so 20/2=10-radius, and 10^2 *pi, 100pi, 314 square feet, so yes! Two decimal places: 100*3.1416=314.16, I think!
