help i need help with percent
Our badminton team has finished 75% of its season. So far, we have won 20% of the games we played. What percent of the remainder of our games must we win in order to finish the season with the same number of wins as losses?
Let us assume you have 100 games per season
100 - 75 ==25 games left to play
20% x 75 ==15 games won out of the 75 games played.
75 - 15 ==60 games lost
Of the 25 games left to play, you must win:
100% or all remaining 25 games.
25 + 15 games already won ==40 games won for the entire season.
Therefore, even if you win ALL the remaining 25 games, you will never have 50% win rate, since you can have maximum of 40 games won and 60 games lost. In order to have 50% win rate, you must have won 1/3 of the first 75% of the games played.
Note: Total number of games per season does not matter, whether it is 100 games, 200 games or 1000 games.
