Ammonia and water mixture fills a 5 gallon container. Eighty percent of the mixture is ammonia. Some of the mixture will be drained and replaced with pure water. If a five gallon mixture of fifty percent ammonia is desired, how many quarts of the mixture need to be drained before the water is added? A quard is 1/4 of a gallon. Express your answer as a decimal to the nearest tenth.

That took a lot of time to type, so please help me <3 ◕‿‿◕

The original mixture is 16 quarts ammonia and 4 quarts water.  So, to make it 50% ammonia, you take out 4 quarts of ammonia.  So you need to take out 4*0.8 = 3.2 quarts of the mixture.
