1 Do you know how to use the quadratic formula?   x^2 -7x-98 = 0

2 x^2 -48 = 2x       x^2-2x-48=0     (x-8)(x+6)    so x = 8 or -6

3   expand   x^2-12x+32-12 = 0

                   x^2-12x+20 = 0     use quadratic formula or just factor it to (x-10)(x-2) = 0    so x = 10 or 2

4  x^2-x-72

5 t^2 = 324    so t = + or - sqrt 324 = +-18

(x+7)(x-14)= 0   so x =-7 and 14

 

Quadratic Formula for solving quadratic equations in the for  ax^2 +bx + c = 0 :

\(x = {-b \pm \sqrt{b^2-4ac} \over 2a}\)
