In a town, 64% of the people have computers. 75% of the people had cell phones. 20% of the people who had cell phones didn't have computers. How many people had a computer and a cell phone. Give your answer as a decimal.

This is easiest to see if we imagine that there are 100 people in the town

 

75%   have  cell phones  = 75.......and 20% of these don't have computers 

 

So  .....  20% of 75 = .20 *75  = 15 who have cell-phones don't have computers

So  60%  of the people own computers and cell phones  =  .60
