(x - 1/3)  ( x - 4) ( x - 3)  =

(x - 1/3)  ( x^2 - 7x + 12)  =   { distribute the terms in the first set of parentheses over the terms in the second }

x (x^2 - 7x + 12)   -  (1/3)   (  x^2 - 7x + 12)  =

x^3  - 7x^2  + 12x    - (1/3)x^2  + (7/3) x  - 4         combine like terms

x^3  +  ( -7 - 1/3)x^2 +  (12 + 7/3)x  - 4

x^3  +  (  -21/3 - 1/3)x^2  +  (36/3 + 7/3)x  - 4

x^3  +  ( -22/3)x^2  +  ( 43/3)x   - 4

x^3  - (22/3)x^2  + (43/3)x  - 4

Check my math, Manuel....I did this one rather hurriedly.....LOL!!!

OK....try this

(3x - 1) ( x - 4) ( x - 3)  =

3 x^3 - 22 x^2 + 43 x - 12
