as well as points \$P_1\$, \$P_2, P_3,\$ and \$P_4\$ : Say that our particle is at \$P_1\$ at time \$t_1\$, our particle is at \$P_2\$ at time \$t_2\$ , our particle is at \$P_3\$ at time \$t_3\$ , and our particle is at \$P_4\$ at time \$t_4\$ . Enter times \$t_1, t_2, t_3\$, and \$t_4\$ in that order.

2. Consider a particle following the parametric equations

\$x = 2t+1\$

\$y = 3t+2\$
What is the speed of this particle? (You may assume it's constant at all times.)

1)  P1 = 1,2        x = 1    y = 2            1 = 2t+1   so    t = 0        as a check: y = 2 = 3(0)+2 = 2     CHECK !

you should be able to calculate P2 P3 and P4 in th same manner

Speed of x   = 2

Speed of y = 3

Pythag theorem     total speed = sqrt ( 2^2 + 3^2 ) = sqrt 13
