How do I use estimation to help find the product of two decimals? And what are some examples?

2.9  *   5.1    is approximately     3 * 5 = 15     (actually   2.9 * 5.1 = 14.79)

14.3 x 12.8 is about   14 x 13 =182    (actually 183.04)

you should round to the nearest one for all of the decimals, then multiply them. the estimate should be within the same zone as the real answer. see ElectricPavlov's example for more info.
