A geometric sequence can be writen as a, ar, ar^2, ar^3, ar^4, ....

a = 3

ar^3 = 1029

(ar^3)/a = r^3

(1029)/3 = r^3

r^3 = 343

r = 7

Plugging a and r back into our a, ar, ar^2, ar^3, ar^4 equation shows that the series is 3, 21, 147, 1029, ....

I hope that helped. :))
