You are a biologist assigned with tracking a colony of penguins in Antarctica over seven years. When you first arrive, you have a population of 1000 penguins. Throughout the first year, all of the penguins pair up to produce one chick per pair. However, you also notice that by the end of the year, there is a loss of 20% of the total population. Based on these trends, how many penguins will there be at the end of your seven-year assignment? Write an essay to explain your projection of the penguins’ population. Well the first year it would be 1500 penguins but since they lost 20% you multiply 1500 by 0.2 to get 300. 1500-300 = 1200. Then if you repeat the steps you should be able to get the final answer. P.S. dont half 1000 half the number of penguins that you got previously.
